The Engineering and Projects customer stream of McMahon Services is a highly experienced, multidiscipline team. About the Role:

With the company showing continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Engineering and Projects team to work on various multidiscipline, turnkey projects. The role presents as a great opportunity to complement our current team and gain exposure to a wide range of industries which include:

Reporting to the Construction Manager, your primary responsibility will be to assist the Project Manager in delivering the projects, implement practical application of technical skillsets, provide sound technical advice to the Project Manager, assist in the execution of projects, maintain a site presence (when required) and lead safety culture, and proactively report project progress.

Responsibilities of the role will include, but is not limited to:

  • Reviewing, documenting, analysing and planning the project with the Project Manager
  • Acting as a technical lead for the project team and providing advice and leadership when required
  • Managing procurement and purchases of goods and services
  • Overseeing subcontractor works to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Completing works in alignment with customer’s specifications and requirements
  • Ensuring warranty and dispute claims for the project are addressed as soon as practical.
  • Capturing all site works into a detailed site diary and communicating to the project team
  • Reviewing project site reports, designs, and drawings to ensure all project requirements as detailed are completed.
  • Ensuring tools, equipment and materials on site are stored appropriately and that necessary calibrations are undertaken in accordance with manufacturers recommendations.
  • Work collaboratively with Customers, Project Management and Engineering teams to proactively identify problems early and provide optimal solutions to project issues.
  • Ensuring adherence to quality standards of the customers and the company are followed
  • Performing risks and hazards assessment to prevent incidents, injury and damage
  • Providing engineering advice to relevant stakeholders as and we required
  • Overviewing the entire project (within disciplines) from an engineering viewpoint while maintaining an open approach to all problems
  • Interpreting specifications and project plans to organise, estimate, and schedule project efforts.
  • Track budget and schedule, make adjustments to reach goals.
  • Coach, support, motivate and develop a positive safety culture across the business in line with Safety Certainty 2.0 principles.

This role would suit someone with demonstrated experience as a Project Engineer position working on projects, with 2 to 5 years of industry experience

Skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification or advanced education in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Structural), Project Management, or Construction Management.
  • Demonstrated years of experience as a Project Engineer
  • Problem-solving and innovation skills
  • Construction White Card and Current driver’s license.
  • Ability to work as autonomously and as a team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong commitment to Work Health & Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Experience in ERP software like Procore and Pronto or similar programs would be advantageous
  • Must be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol and Fit for work assessment
  • Ability to obtain DCSI and Defence clearance
  • Ability to travel based on project requirements. In return you will be provided with additional LAFHA (living away from home allowance)
