About the role:

We are seeking qualified Carpenters to join our Building and Construction Services team to work on projects across the Defence Sector based in SA.

This will include, but is not limited to:

  • Writing and reviewing JSA’s and risk assessments
  • Working on a variety of maintenance and minor works
  • Reading, interpreting and communicating plans effectively
  • Reading blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully understand the requirements
  • General building works, framing, 2nd fix and hanging doors
  • Laying flooring, roofing repairs, or plasterboard install
  • Installing fixtures and hardware such as door handles, locks, and door closers
  • Inspecting places and conduct repairs or maintenance
  • Ensuring compliance with McMahon Services safety, quality and business processes

About you:

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working as a carpenter on commercial projects
  • Certificate III in Carpentry
  • General knowledge of all building and construction site works
  • An ability to take direction and work unsupervised as a team player
  • Construction White Card and current Driver’s Licence
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • To be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol and Fit for Work assessment
  • Your own standard tools – speciality tools provided by the company
  • To obtain DCSI and Defence clearance
  • An ability to travel on occasions within South Australia to our regional construction sites. Additional LAFHA (living away from home allowance) would be provided

Highly regarded but not essential:

  • Defence environment experience
  • First & Second Fix carpentry experience with a focus on doors & door hardware
  • SCEC knowledge
  • EWP Licence
  • Working at heights
