Project Overview

Royal Australian Air Force’s Base Tindal is 15km outside Katherine and 320km by road southeast of Darwin in the Northern Territory. Although the airfield was constructed in 1942, it is the Air Force’s youngest major operational base and one of Australia’s most important Defence installations.

Since 2017, McMahon Services has provided ongoing maintenance services across various disciplines at RAAF Base Tindal. Works have included repairs and replacement of pumps and other mechanical equipment, building repairs, painting, fencing, fire system maintenance, security doors and gate repairs, lighting and electrical works, signage, taxiway and road repairs, asbestos decontamination, hydraulic services and drainage repairs, roofing and cladding, tiling and flooring, bird proofing, shade sails, playgrounds and concrete works.

Service teams are on call 24/7 to respond to maintenance requests completing up to 50 requests per month. Works occur on both airside and non-side sections of the Base and within secure areas.
