Switchboard Replacement – Harrow Substation

Project Overview

SA Power Networks operates an electricity distribution network that stretches across South Australia, comprising of 87,000km of high voltage and low voltage power lines with voltages ranging up to and including 66kV, servicing over 820,000 customers across an area covering over 178,000 square kilometres. This equates to approximately 1845 feeders around the State, 399 zone substations, more than 68,000 transformers and over 723,000 stobie poles.

McMahon Services were engaged to undertake civil upgrade works to the Substation.

Scope of Work

Works occurred within an operational 66/11kV substation and included the demolition of existing building and other site infrastructure, construction of a brick veneer building, demolition of existing fencing, construction of new 358 Promax Mesh fencing, and construction of yard footings and other civil infrastructure such as conduit trenching and pipelaying for new services, pavements, installation of concrete pits and site drainage.

Building works included service relocation’s, concrete slabs and footings, steel frame construction, installation of masonry and brick walls, mechanical services, ceilings, Colorbond® roofing, cladding, doors and windows, plasterboards and insulation, access panels and painting.
