Roxby Downs Children’s Centre Redevelopment and Area School STEM Works Upgrade

Project Overview

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Works program provides $250 million funding over three years to refurbish and redevelop 139 primary and secondary school facilities for the provision of contemporary STEM programs. The new learning facilities will support and enhance student engagement in STEM related areas to encourage future innovation and productivity.

Scope of Work

McMahon Services were contracted by Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure as part of the STEM program to undertake refurbishment works at the Roxby Downs Area School.

Scope of works include the refurbishment of various building between the Children Centre and the Roxby Downs Area School STEM works. This Children Centre portion of the project relates to the part demolition and refurbishment of the Children’s Centre (block L and M), Library (Block H), and Canteen (Block D), as well as outdoor learning area landscaping works to Block M and Block. The STEM works upgrade consisted of refurbishing Buildings E and G to upgrade the science and technology laboratories and classrooms, as well as upgrade works to courtyards D-E and G-H.

Works included concrete supply and install, structural steel supply and install, brickwork, roofing supply and install, partitions, ceilings, linings, metalwork, carpentry, landscaping, paving and irrigation. Services included electrical, data, communications, hydraulic, stormwater, mechanical and fire.
