Project Overview

Redundant substation equipment decontamination and removal.

This project involved asbestos removal from all control buildings and decontamination of redundant PCB contaminated equipment from the Playford A & B Substations.

Once decontamination works were complete, a demolition crew from McMahon Services mobilised to remove all of the redundant equipment, including CB2 KV, CBs, CTs, CVTs, DNs, Bus, Bus Supports and Poles. Playford A also required removal of the transformer.

Works were undertaken in the following stages over a three month period:

  • Stage 1 – Control Building Demolition
  • Stage 2 – PCB Oil Removal / Substation Demolition

All works were completed utilising highly skilled and experienced in-house personnel from McMahon Services, including:

  • Asbestos Removal
  • PCB Removal
  • Waste Transport
  • Cranage
  • Demolition
  • Project Management
