Horizon Power Kimberley and Pilbara Building Demolition Works

Project Overview

Horizon Power is a Western Australian Government-owned, commercially-focused corporation that provides safe and reliable power to about 100,000 residents and 10,000 businesses across regional and remote Western Australia. In 2015 they engaged McMahon Services to demolish and remediate remote building sites across Northern Western Australia.

Works required the removal of redundant infrastructure from six of Kimberley and Pilbara power stations at Camballin, Fitzroy Crossing, Marble Bar, Nullagine, Halls Creek and Derby. Scope of works comprised of the removal of buildings, footings, tanks, bunds and septic infrastructure. Building footprints were returned to level and graded and some sites required secure fencing to be erected at the conclusion of the demolition works.

Other remediation works included emptying hydrocarbons from equipment and storage tanks, and asbestos containing materials across all sites, all of which were disposed of in at an DWER approved storage facility
