Defence Science and Technology (DST), RAAF Base Minor Works

Project Overview

Broadspectrum has supported the Defence department for a decade, providing facilities management and asset maintenance works across the majority of Defence bases and in their training areas. In South Australia, Broadspectrum engages McMahon Services to undertake minor building maintenance works across the Defence Science and Technology (DST) Group Edinburgh and RAAF Base Edinburgh facilities.

Scope of Work

Ongoing maintenance and building repair works at multiple estates that include Building 274 Catering Section and Accommodation Office, Building 490 Offices, Building 497 No. 1 Remote Sensor Unit Headquarters, Building 498 Plant Room, Building 541 Fire Station, Building 550 92 Wing Development Unit, Building 594 Aircraft Hangar and Workshop 10 Squadron, Building 806 Hardened Network Army Medical and Dental Facility and Building T0543 TACAN (tactical air navigation).

Works included painting, concrete floor and sheet repairs, structural remediation, building underpinning, replacing floor coverings, gutter and downpipe replacement, carpet and vinyl replacement, repairs to walls and ceilings, salt damp remediation, bird protection, skylight replacements and concrete pavement repairs.

Buildings contained asbestos and required remediation works. Some mould remediation works were required in several buildings. Buildings 273 and 490 hold heritage significance requiring the project team to work closely with Defence Heritage personnel.

Project required works to be undertaken on airside facilities.
