Air 8000 Phase 2 is a Department of Defence project to replace the retired DHC-4 Caribou specialised cargo planes and provide the Australian Defence Force with an enhanced intra-theatre and regional airlift capability. The new Base will included headquarters, hangar, maintenance and warehouse facilities, a new simulator and training facility, new apron, high mast airfield ground lighting and hydrant refuelling.
