The 200 metre high chimney stack at the former Northern Power Station site at Port Augusta was successfully felled by McMahon Services at 8am, Friday 23rd November 2018.
The structure was the last and most anticipated of seven charged felling demolition events on site – part of the ongoing effort to clear the site and make it safe and stable for future industrial use.
The stack – Port Augusta’s best known landmark – is 68 metres higher than Adelaide’s tallest building, Westpac House.
A spokesperson for Flinders Power said “there were no complications with this morning’s felling and the stack toppled in a south-easterly direction onto vacant land as planned, which had been heavily saturated to minimise dust disturbance.”

Work on the site is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2019.
