Edith River Emergency Response Cleanup & Bridge Repair Works

On 27 December 2011 a freight train derailed 40 kilometres north of Katherine, after Cyclone Grant caused flood waters on the Edith River Rail Bridge.

McMahon Services received an urgent phone call on New Year’s Eve to rapidly assist with the emergency clean-up. Appointed as Head Project Manager, we arrived on site the next day. Our team of 30 personnel worked 24 hours, 7 days a week to restore rail services in the shortest time possible. Majority of the clean-up works were completed in just six weeks.
