Ballestrin Construction Services – Port of Brisbane Crane Rail Replacement

The Port of Brisbane, located at the mouth of the Brisbane River, is one of Australia’s fastest growing container ports, and Queensland’s largest multi-cargo port. Port of Brisbane handles approximately $50 billion worth of international cargo each year.

Ballestrin, subsidiary company of McMahon Services were engaged by McMahon Services through the Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd to replaceme 300m of 86kg/m crane rail in an operational port facility with constrained access to site. Works were undertaken in discrete sections requiring a six-and-a-half day by 24-hour shutdown period. Works included service identification and protection, hydro-demolition and the coordination and supply of rail and rail plate.

As an international port, all personnel had to meet Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) requirements.
