  • McMahon Services were engaged by CFSGAM (Colonial First State Global) to undertake base tenancy preparation works, for the new Rivers and ToyWorld tenancies on behalf of Myer Centre Management.

    The preparation works included:

    • Demolition of previous shop tenancy fitouts to back to base building services and finishes
    • Modifications to existing services (air conditioning and fire) to accept new tenancy layouts
    • Installation of new electrical mains and distribution boards, including power and lighting reticulation
    • Construction of new smoke barriers, five egress doors and fully compliant fire evacuation corridor

    Project Challenges

One of the project challenges was carrying out a full epoxy floor coating to the entire area. This process was carried out after hours to avoid fume irritation to adjoining operational tenancies and the public. This allowed for continual construction access on a tight fixed date construction program. The epoxy flooring was carried out in a number of stages, coordinated with centre management and all trade contractors.

Due to restricted site access and limited storage on site, and within the building, the McMahon Services team were required to adopt‚ 'just in time' principals for all deliveries. It was also necessary to ensure delivered materials for example plasterboard etc, were suitably sized to fit in the existing goods lifts.
