Inner-city demolition, excavation and concrete works of former ETSA substation building.

McMahon Services were engaged by Baulderstone Pty Ltd as the main contractor to deliver the inner-city demolition, excavation and concrete works packages of the City Central Tower 8 development on Franklin Street. Demolition works involved the disposal of a former ETSA substation building, removal and disposal of concrete paving, slabs and footings, bitumen paving, solid brick fencing, brick wall, fire hydrant and associated service pipework and verandah canopy attached to a heritage building.

Civil construction works included the testing and classification of soil, bulk excavation and off-site disposal of clean and contaminated soil and the construction of the basement slab rubble platform. Concrete works included construction of pilecaps, capping beams, shotcrete arches to boundary shoring piles and underpinning to the adjacent heritage property.

Multiple contractors were managed successfully to maintain tight deadlines. The client was extremely impressed by the team's dedication to the highest level of safety, and professionalism and assistance to ensure consistent project progress.
