McMahon Services were proud sponsors of the SA Women in Civil luncheon on November 16th held at the Royal Hotel in Adelaide.

Women in Civil is an initiative of the Civil Contractors Federation (CCF) aimed at providing support, mentoring, information and networking opportunities for women working in civil construction.

The event attracted over 40 women from many different backgrounds, and proved to be a great success, giving women the opportunity to share their experiences in the workplace and network over lunch.

McMahon Services’ very own Lyn Torbarina has been appointed Chairperson of the Women in Civil Committee and has been very instrumental in getting the initiative up and running.

Another shining light at McMahon services is Amy Shigrov who has been placed with our Building Services Division through the Master Builders Association apprenticeship program.

Amy recently competed in the 2011 SA Worldskills Competition – Australia’s largest and most prestigious trade and skills competition. Amy did extremely well, scoring 5% above the winner, but was ineligible due to her age. We congratulate Amy and are very proud of her efforts.

McMahon Services looks forward to continuing our support for the initiative, and actively promoting the employment of women in civil construction.
