Our History

Construction services have been the lifeblood of the McMahon family for generations. McMahon Services celebrated its first 20 years in business in 2010 – one of many key milestones in its history.

1990

  • On February 9th, David and Andrew McMahon establish McMahon Services with 12 staff at Duncan Road, Dry Creek in South Australia
  • Port Pirie office established to provide industrial services to the lead smelter – a contract the company still holds today

1997

  • Demolition of the Stokes Hill Power Station – the single largest demolition project undertaken in the Northern territory

1998

  • Demolition of the former John Martin’s building – the single largest asbestos / demolition project undertaken in South Australia

2004

  • Darwin office established

2005

  • Brisbane office established

2006

  • Demolition, remediation and excavation of the former Carlton United Brewery site in the Brisbane CBD
  • Karratha office established

2009

  • McMahon Services is awarded federal safety accreditation – the first multi-disciplinary construction services organisation in Australia to achieve this recognition
  • McMahon Services team grows to more than 400 staff

2010

  • McMahon Services purchases a new ultra high reach demolition excavator from Portland, Oregon, USA – the largest of its kind in Australia
  • McMahon Services celebrates 20 years

2011

  • Decommissioning and scuttling of the ex HMAS Adelaide
  • Launch of Intract Indigenous Contractors
  • Received National CCF Earth Award for Birkenhead Remediation Project
